It’s here! It’s here!
I hope you guys are prepared for the bacon-y love that is going to be happening here on KISS the next month because I could not be more excited about the recipes you’ll be seeing from me AND 15 of my closest blog friends.
I’ve had to lace up my running shoes a few extra times the last few weeks while tinkering with these recipes, but its been totally worth it. I mean, really, who passes up an excuse to add bacon to everything?
Not this girl.
Especially when “everything” includes my all time favorite meal…PIZZA!
Isn’t that a beautiful sight? 🙂
Now, I don’t know about you, but I have fooled myself into believing that because BLT’s have lettuce and tomatoes they are actually good for me…despite the bacon…and mayo…and extra thick toast.
I know. And I don’t care.
So, in an effort to stay “healthy” this month I have created several BLT-inspired recipes, starting with this super yummy BLT pizza with white sauce.
It’s everything amazing about pizza with all of the flavors of a BLT in one glorious meal.
Here’s what you’re gonna need:
Pizza Dough (recipe here)
1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese
About 3/4 cups of milk
2 tablespoons of flour
1 clove garlic
3 slices of bacon, sliced
1/2 cup of sun dried tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup of sautéed spinach (or frozen spinach, thawed)
Here’s what you’re gonna do:
Flour a cutting board big enough to roll the dough out on. Go ahead and pre heat your pizza stone in the oven to 450 degrees (you want it really hot when that dough hits it). Or if you would rather grill your pizza, check out this recipe.
Roll the dough to desired thickness.
Meanwhile, cook the bacon pieces until crispy, remove pieces from the pan and set aside for later (but leave the fat)!
Add the flour to the bacon fat and cook on low for 3-5 minutes.
Once the flour is cooked, slowly add the milk and whisk until smooth. Continue whisking and cooking on low until thick.
When the pizza stone has heated fully place the crust directly onto it and cook for 4-5 minutes.
Remove from the oven and add the white sauce evenly in place of a traditional pizza sauce.
Top with cheese, cooked bacon, tomatoes and spinach.
Continue to cook for another 5-10 minutes until the crust is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted.
Let the pizza cool for a few minutes, slice and enjoy!
